Automatic notifications
As previous sections have explored, there are various ways to control what activity you will be emailed about. There is one exception to your email settings: any note that you interact with will automatically turn reply emails on.
Replying to a note (and eventually responding to any button on an Action Request) will set your email frequency for that note to "daily" automatically.
If you manually select your preferred email frequency on a note, this will prevent the automatic changes, so you don't need to keep battling the machine every time you interact with the same note.
This also means that you can manually set your email frequency on notes without needing to reply. If you want to follow a conversation closely, you can set the note to email you immediately for each reply, or send yourself a daily update.
If you choose to never receive emails about replies, you may see the activity in your daily or weekly summary emails (if you have these turned on; learn more about this setting here). However, these summaries, as well as daily note emails, will not be sent unless there is meaningful activity.
In other words, if you choose not to receive emails about replies, and there is no other activity in your groups that day, then you won't get a daily summary email. If you receive daily or immediate emails about replies, then this activity won't also show up in your daily summary email. That would be pointless!
This attention to the relationship between your settings is our love letter to your attention span. Reduce the noise, increase the signal, and decide what matters to you.
